Dry erase animation

Interactive Mirror

The video I posted I found while searcher for forms of interaction between the user and the computer, kind of like what we learned in tutorial 12 where you could click the arrows to navigate through an ad or website. However, when I came across this it was just too cool not to post. This mirrors reminds me of the iPad that just came out but has different useful features. I want one!!

Bath Time

Bath Time

I love this animation because of the movements and secondary motions created. Everything is so exaggerated and it makes the characters look like they are made of putty. It fits the emotions of the characters and the storyline.

Animation by students

I found two interesting animation.

One is very unique idea to use the road sing, and I think it also very successful to use the sound.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S80n9Nv1St4&feature=related
The another one is also animation who use the simple line drawing.
Its only one minutes but there are three different seans and all make sense.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z6sPUSRmqqc&feature=related
I found this animation short by Liron Topaz. Its a 3D animation and it shows a character going through a simple problem because he has to wait a very long time for a upload on his new computer. There is a great usage of anticipation in this film and the plot is pretty clear. There is some humor put into this when the character smacks the computer and it starts to upload backwards and he flips the computer upside down thinking it would fix it. The character is also a very underdog type of character that has a high image of himself as he has a painting on the wall of himself looking like elvis.

Oxygen

This animation called oxygen done by a student for her senior piece is very detailed in the emotion and the flexibility of the characters body and facial expressions, the background changes a lot which helped each scene more and more. I enjoyed the story line as well.

Box Clever - Mischievous Short Animation - Ed Taylor Jon Brooks

I found this animation called box clever also showing squashing and stretching.
Also the movement of the boxes makes them feel more life like, and the shadows really help too.
The eyes really catch the emotion of the boxes.

The Dog Needs to Pee

I chose this video, because I think it is a good example of connecting things together. This video has a reason why things happen, and then a reaction to what happens. I think the idea is very clever, and so is the execution and techniques used. There is a good use of secondary motion and also of squash and stretch throughout the piece.

Lasse/amazing

Lasse

Lasse:
The main thing I like about this animation is how simple the idea or story is behind it.
He is just at a "party" and goes into the bathroom and sees himself as all these different creatures.
Then he decides he shouldn't drink anymore and rejoins the party.
Simple yet the animation behind it, is really cool and great to watch.

Amazing: This is a really cool and amazing animation. But the thing I like about this is the camera angels.
Even though the animation is very nice as well as the story. I paid attention to the angels and tried to figure out how,
who ever made this choose which shots to shoot and why.

Big Buck Bunny

This is a cute animation that is very clean. The big bunny goes around sniffing flours and the stretch on the floors as well as the bunny is very real, and makes viewer feel normal.

Wall Paint

I picked this because it shows animation and what we do through just taking one picture at a time. While he draws this animation on side of walls and in houses then takes one pictures and then re draws everything. It must take some much time to do. Also how he re draws his characters with out knowing where they were before hand and it comes out smooth too.

2 animations

This Side Up
I picked this animation because the computer in it is a lot like the tv set in my animation, so I am using this to study the movements of the computer to help me with the movements I want to achieve with the tv set in my animation. I like this animation for a number of reasons. There is a lot of secondary motion, even down to the finest detail when the man presses in the button on the computer and the computer moves back and forth; it's very subtle, but I like the attention payed to details. The anticipation and movement after the man hits the computer is also well done. It's over exaggerated, but it helps to keep the viewer's interest. I also like the extreme close-up shots to the computer's monitor to exaggerate the situation.

Motion Graphics
There's nothing really too special about this one, I just liked it for the movement and cut-out graphics. Good pop-art animation.

Bananas

This animation clip has a comedic twist to it. It shows a monkey in a lab room and a device pops out of the door with a red button. The monkey realizes if he pushes the button there comes out a banana. After trying to get a third banana and realizing the button doesn't work. The monkey starts to hit the button harder until it hits him back. There is the use of anticipation and staging in this clip.

Animation Reel

I liked this animation reel because it showed a lot of general animation mechanics with the walk sequences, jumping, movement, and body positions. There is some follow through and over lapping movements in some of the scenes. And the timing and motion are almost precise.

About easy flash

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-5yeV2ieAc&feature=fvst

I posted this youtube because I think that is a way to tell us how to use flash and make a easy animation, it just a simple example to show us how to change the color of the star or sky, and something else.

Sir Centipede

I chose this video, because I think it is very well thought out. By watching it, I was able to get some ideas for how to use repetition in animation to make the piece interesting and also more cohesive when the animation is completed.

Sherwin Wiliiams Paint Chips

I chose this commercial as one of my examples, because I really liked that it is something that is encountered in our normal everyday lives. I was watching tv and a great example of animation was right there. I definitely think that the animators of this did an amazing job of taking something that is completely flat and using it to create interesting things that we encounter.

Kiwi!

I chose this animation because it was done by a student as their master's thesis animation. It shows several different camera angles and exaggerations to keep the video interesting. It also has very fluid motions and movements making kiwi seem very life like.

My first Character Animation DEMO REEL

I thought that this video was a great way to show simple character movement. It seems very developed to me because of how fluid he motions are and how many different character there are. After doing the tutorial and seeing a small preview of the bones tool, I feel like I can relate that to this animation.

Bath Time

I found this little short and I really liked the animation in it. I like for example, the way the background stays the same and doesn't move, but it is still 3D. I also think both characters have good squash and stretch. The little dog also shows good use of secondary movement.

Floater???

So I found this animation on Rhizome and after watching it, I hated it. I didn't like the colors used in it and the movement of the animation confuses me. I also do not like the way the creatures "eyes" don't match the rest of the aesthetic of the piece. The only description offered on Rhizome was "Floater is a chromakeyed apparition"... yeah, and that means what? I'm not sure what the artist was trying to express when making this. The only part I think is a little neat is the body used at the very end.

Crazy Turtle

I chose this animation based on the characters motion throughout the video, the turtle bends and stretches a lot and it helps watching other videos to further my project.

Kiwi!

I chose this animation to post one because it very interesting to watch i really enjoyed it. in the beginning there is a bit of anticipation going on because the viewer doesn't know what he is pulling, but then towards the end your still wondering because most of the camera shots are up close but once the ending comes it's kinda of a relaxed feeling and i like how you just fade into the distance.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hI3uKFsmk4

The first animation video I found is by Jeff Liu who created a simple animation demo reel. The animation is in black and white and is done using very sketched out rough lines. The first scene shows a young man who picks up a cartoonish glove and puts it on. Before he puts the glove on, he examines the glove with a look of curiosity on his face which gives the viewer an anticipation that the young man is going to do something with the glove. The first scene is using a mid shot at a eye level angle. After the young man puts on the cartoonish glove he is then sucked into another world. During the sequence of the young man being sucked into the glove his body starts to bend and fold which is using an exaggerating technique.

The young man is then brought into another world and the camera angle is a lower level or worm shot. The young man gets up off the ground and his hair waves up and down following his actions. Then the camera is shot pointing behind the young man and the camera pans to the right showing all these cartoon characters that the young man is looking at. All the cartoon characters are dancing and some of them are squash and stretching and others have exaggerated movements.

The young man then looks up at the sky and the camera angle shows the sun from his point of view and the sun has a face and smiles at him. The young man staggers backwards and his hair follows his staggering. There is a lot of mid shots throughout the rest of the video. A mouse tries to give the young man a hug but the man pushes the mouse off and the mouse gets upset and chases after the young man. At this point a lot of the animation is exaggerated and the lines seem bolder. There is a point of perception during this seen as the young man is running his foot is closer to the camera shot and looks larger. The sequence ends when the young man punches the mouse and gets kicked out of the cartoon world.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmjyeapkB8A&NR=1&feature=fvwp

The first scene shows a pear being grabbed. The tree limb kinda stretches and bounces a little when the pear is pulled. Then there is a cut in of a gameboy being played. Then a mid shot that pans out showing a boy and a hairy creature hanging out. A weird rabbit creature appears and the camera shot changes to a landscape shot. The weird rabbit creature has a helicopter type hat that pushes air against everything and the other characters slightly being pushed. There is another cut in of the gameboy being showed. Then there is silence and anticipation of something going to happen. The rabbit stares down the boy and the hairy creature. The rabbit yanks the gameboy out of the boys hands and there is a follow through of motions as the boy jerks forward with the motion and the creature on top of his head bounces.

The rabbit breaks the gameboy and there is another silence that throws anticipation. All characters stare for a second and then the hairy creature has a evil look on his face that throws another anticipation on when he is going to do something. The hairy creature spits out the pear at the rabbit. The rabbit then falls. The helicopter hat is now laying on the ground and the boy and the hairy creature get an idea to take it and let the boy wear it. This is staging the idea that the boy will wear the hat and use it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg8mZKbUzwE&feature=fvw

This one is called the Happiest Monster and it shows a little girl running after a ball and then out of no where a huge monster appears from the sky and the camera shot cuts to the girl and shows her scared with her arms up. The monster looks at the girl and then roars and his mouth is exaggerated and looks stretched out. The camera shot turns into a side angle and then shows the monster looking at the scared girl. The monster licks the girl and the anticipation of the girl mood changes. The camera shot changes and the angle changes as the girl is shown at the eye level and at a mid shot in front of the girl as the monster is in the back. A lot of camera shots change as the girl becomes happy. The monster throws the girl in the air.

And the monster prepares to fly or jump which shows the squash and stretch animation. The girl rides the back of the monster through a few landscape camera shots. Then a top view of the angle shows the girl again riding the monster. Then a bird’s eye view of the planet and then the monster flying up towards the camera and around it. The monster brings the girl to a nest of baby monsters and the girl looks happy. There is an anticipation of whats going to happen. Its unclear but then the girl falls into the nest of baby monsters and they eat her alive. Worm view shows the bigger monster looking on.

Black and white animation

This is a short animation made by a student but I think this is a good example for us to make a simple animation and use flash.
I like the idea who convine the sound and shape togather to make the story more serious and catch our eyes. Also the primary movement and the secoundaly movement works very well.

Animation, Video, Sound, Interactive

Multimedia definition according to Brittany: A variety of medias combined to create an appealing product. The various medias may include sound and full-motion video, typically created through computer applications.

Sherwin Williams

Im sure most people have seen this commercial on tv, but to me it represents what i think of as multimedia because it comes to life in front of our eyes. Multimedia should involve movement creates a story, whether the story be viewed differently by different viewers. This commercial is a simple everyday object that is transformed with movement and it becomes life like to the audience.

WindowsReal

WINDOWSREAL

I chose this piece to represent multi-media because I think it does a very good job of fitting into that category, and I also think it it fairly entertaining. By combining animation and sound with the video they create, the makers of this video were able to create something more dynamic than a single media piece. It is easy to see that creating this piece took time and consideration in order to get everything to a point where they could begin filming. It goes to show that creating a multi-media piece is something that requires time and also a lot of dedication.
I chose this video by Larry Carlson to represent a multimedia work. I think it is multimedia because it is a video and because it uses different elements like lasers, lights, and human beings. I think multimedia is anything that is interactive and uses multiple kinds of mediums, which this video does.

MUTO

I'm sure a lot of you have seen this already, but I found it appropriate for this class. I can't even imagine the time it took to complete this project. A great blend and balance of real life and imagination accompanied by music and sound that really takes you out of the usual elements even though the backdrop for this entire video is something that we all know and recognize.

multimedia

I happened upon a group called Human Beans Project. They use music, installation art, lights and lasers in a form called Live Mapping. They have twisted all of these aspects into a party like artistic installation light show. It appears as though the lights and lasers are responding to the music or dj's actions. the link is just one of the shows they have put on.

Amazing Laser Show

I came across this artist who specializes in laser shows around the world. I considered this multimedia because he interacts with the audience in a live performance which is one way multimedia is perceived. Also it is a video and sound that is recorded and played for individuals online.

Takagi Masakatsu - Exit/Delete

I choose this animation because, to me, this is a good representation of what multimedia is. The artist used still images, sound and animation to create a beautiful piece. Because this piece is on youtube I am able to interact with it as well. I can choose when I want to watch it, what parts I want to watch, etc. This artist is a multimedia artist and has many more pieces that I enjoyed.

One in 8 Million

I post this piece as an example of multi media art because it is interactive, it has picture slide shows, and sound. It shows a variety of different type of people in New York that talk about their life situations. Its interactive because you can click on the scroll bar below and play each person's narrative. I found this piece on New York Times website.

Desital Art

I post this short movie is because I feel like this is a good example for multimedia.
Because the artis convine the animation and their own voice and sounds togather seems like we are actually saw the child book and talking about travel.
